LSU Salary Database

Published: Wednesday, October 15, 2008

Updated: Wednesday, May 4, 2011 22:05

These figures reflect the non-classified 2010-2011 annual salaries of University employees as of July 1, 2010. Note that employee salary is not necessarily the same as employee pay; the latter can be affected by other factors like bonuses.

The sum of the salaries equals $216,232,177. Divided among 3,193 employees, this equals an average salary of $67,720.

You can search the database using most browsers' search functions. On Apple computers, the search function is typically accessed by typing Apple + F. On Windows computers, the search function is typically accessed by typing Control + F.

If you are unable to find a specific University employee on the database, please leave a comment and let us know. Keep in mind these figures are current as of July 1, 2010.

So if this is the annual salaries of University employees as of July 1, 2010, where are the salaries for July 2011? or does that not come out until 2012? And would the last publication have been employees as of July 1, 2009?

Teachers salaries have almost nothing to do with their teaching abilities. The lowest paid ones teach the most and the best. The highest paid ones have published the most and teach the least

They don't list the faculty they fire and re-hire every semester, who make the smallest amount on campus for people who teach. It's not even a living wage.

Is there also a database for the law school salaries? I'd really like to see that information

Sum of salaries is 216 million per year? My god, that's ridiculous! No wonder LSU is in a budget crisis! Alot of these professors/ instructors just can't teach their way out of a paper bag, yet they're making +100,000 dollars. Also, about Les, why can't TAF pay ALL of Miles' salary? Since TAF barely gives anything back to the University anyways...

Les Miles does make more than that....Millions is true.....but the actual pay he makes directly from the university is only what you see here. The rest comes from other funding sources such as T.A.F. and he also has some pretty nice endorsement deals. When you total all of that up...then he makes millions.
Way to much

To follow up on my last comment Emily Burris is paid more than some Dean's and VC's. What does this women do to warrant this type of pay?

Trust me. The grad students in the dept make nowhere near $39K a year. Not even close.
Well

Actually, as a mere instructor, Charles Roussel makes about 39,000/yr. He is paid even lower than many of the graduate students in his department, especially when you consider that his class sizes are around 500 every semester.

Why can't we get an update of this anywhere? I have looked online and can't find anything.

I have an idea! How about the upper administrators and faculty making more than $100k take a 10 percent furlough? And we can keep our valued instructors and staff!

Decrease the sports people's salaries and increase the salaries of the professors who teach well and positively contribute to the educational environment. Yes, LSU Football rakes in a lot of money for the university, but at the end of the day, LSU is still a LEARNING institution.

Stop emphasizing sports that contribute absolutely nothing to the furtherance of society and start making education a bigger priority. You'd think they would have figured out why Louisiana public education is amongst the worst in the nation by now.

The rest of his salary is supplemented by TAF. Universities across the country do this. They are still public employees receiving a state salary and are supplemented by private athletic foundations. Not hard to understand and not dumb down

Les Miles makes $3 or $4 MILLION annually. It's public information, I wonder why they tried to dumb it down on this spread sheet.

I bet that if Charles Roussel's salary was actually posted on this site, we would all realize he was getting paid WAY to much. If only professors were paid based on how good they were as a teacher then we would all finally get our money's worth. As an student I had several teachers that i learned absoluetly nothing from, and I put a lot of time into my education.

IMHO, when the median is greater than the average (as shown now), there is too much high end salary. Also, it would be nice to be able to see a designation of salaried, sex (M/F), classified and unclassified salaries. This would allow figuring the percentage of the latest cuts each group is providing and M/F amount comparison; something I think might be interesting.

No no no Les Miles does make millions as do many of the people on this list make more than their base salaries e.g. science professors being paid out of grant money etc. It's all in the classification of the money they make.
