Alabama football coach Nick Saban flew into a Baton Rouge airport Wednesday, The Daily Reveille learned through anonymous sources.
Saban was escorted by Louisiana State Troopers to an undisclosed location.
The News Star in Monroe reported Saban was on a recruiting trip in the city Tuesday.
Saban flew in during the morning and recruited all day, The News Star reported. The Alabama coach also visited Ouachita, Bastrop and Rayville.
When asked if Saban was in Baton Rouge this week, Jeff Purinton, Alabama sports information director, said in an e-mail that Saban was out Monday and Tuesday recruiting. He did not specify where Saban was while recruiting.
According to Flightaware.com, three planes flew from Monroe to Baton Rouge on Wednesday. There is no confirmation yet as to who was on the flights.
After Lloyd Carr resigned as Michigan's head coach, speculation began about a possible departure by LSU coach Les Miles, who is a former player and assistant coach at Michigan.
LSU Senior Associate Athletic Director Herb Vincent said to his knowledge, Saban's trip to Baton Rouge had nothing to do with LSU, despite message-board speculations that Saban could be a replacement should Miles decide to leave.
Saban had a 48-16 record in five seasons at LSU.
LSU Athletic Director Skip Bertman said LSU has no interest in interviewing Saban as the coach.
"We don't want to talk to coach Saban. What are we asking permission to talk to coach Saban for?" Bertman said. "We've got a coach. His name is Les Miles. We're playing Tennessee this weekend."
This season was Saban's first with the Crimson Tide after a two-year stint with the NFL's Miami Dolphins.

Let me explain something to you, if Miles goes to Michigan, Saban BETTER not come back. If you want him to return, you're crazy, sorry, but yeah, you're nuts!
If Saban returns to LSU, that's it, I'm never watching LSU football again. (Continued…)

I think if Skip Bertman knew for a fact that Les Miles was leaving, he would not be putting Saban on the top of his list. Plus, would LSU really want to buy out his brand-spanking-new-highest-paid-coach-in-college-football-history contract? I don't think so. (Continued…)

Anybody that thinks Saban would leave Bama for LSU knows nothing at all about College Football. Saban will dominate at Bama and everybody damn well knows it. (Continued…)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Pure comedy. I needed a good laugh.
Good luck with getting Del Rio or Spurrier I think either
will do well at LSU. Of course is the Tubby story a smoke
screen to get him to Red Stick?

AMEN TO THAT!! He'd better tuck his little tail between his legs and carry his sorry rear end back to Alabama where he belongs!! Don't come back to our door looking for a booty call and don't scrounge around in our back yard looking for the scraps we threw out with yesterday's trash!

Hey--How many of you left a job you liked and moved to another job thinking that this new job was really what you wanted (it was a level above your old job)? And after a time you realized you made a mistake and you were miserable and needed to get back to something similar to your old job. (Continued…)

Frankly, I'd be relieved if LSU tells Saban to take a flying leap. Until the AD says it that emphatically, I'm concerned about Saban returning to BR. (Continued…)

Also, Saban has no buyout at Alabama. None, period. He can terminate the contract with a simple notice, a Dear John (or, a Dear Mal, or for that matter just Mal) letter. (Continued…)
