Whitney Leigh Phipps, history and secondary education junior, posed for Playboy photographer, Kim Mizuno, Monday afternoon in the Courtyard Marriott. Phipps was one of several LSU students auditioning for Playboy's Girls of the SEC issue.

The last time Playboy came to the University's campus, in March of 2001, coed Colleen Marie was discovered and went on to be Miss August 2003.

This week, Playboy is back on campus for its "Girls of the SEC" spread, which will be published Sept. 7 as part of the magazine's October 2007 issue.

Casting photos of potential prospects were shot earlier this week, and now photographer Kim Mizuno shoots on location around the city with the girls who received a call back.

"We're going to shoot what the city gives us, and try and get some local flavor," Mizuno said. "I'm sure that something that has to do with Louisiana culture will end up in the photo shoot."

Mizuno, a Playboy photographer for over 20 years, came from the University of Arkansas the week before, and will leave Sunday for Mississippi State University.

"Basically, we spend six days in the college town and Sunday is our travel day," Mizuno said. "We have two other crews doing eight of the other SEC schools as well."

Normally, Playboy only does a college issue once a year, but due to its popularity, the magazine has now begun to do two college issues per year.

"The order came down from Mr. Hefner that we need to do more college spreads. So we're out on the road doing that," Mizuno said.

Several University students showed up on the first day of shooting this past Monday to try out for a spot in the magazine.

Terry Lynn Farrow has been aspiring to appear in the publication for quite some time.

"I'm friends with Colleen Marie, who has appeared in Playboy before, but I missed the audition back in 2001," Farrow said.

After several years of managing a business and caring for sick family members, she's still available to be photographed.

"I've been in college for several years, but I also had to take a lot of breaks," Farrow said. "So I'm still a student, and hopefully this year I'll be able to make it into the magazine."

This is my girlfriend who is posing for Playboy. To me posing for Playboy is a lot better than other smut out there today. She did the nude shoot and she said that the photographers made her feel very comfortable and they respected her every wish. (Continued…)

In response to Cindy Roberts and the AFA, no one hand cuffed me, threw me in a van, blindfolfedly walked me into the hotel room, and told me to get naked and smile. (Continued…)

Playboy is a great thing. Not just for horny young boys or whatever. It really may be the pinnacle of the modeling world. If I were moderately attractive(and female), I'd love to pose. (Continued…)

Whitney;

Some unsolicited advice. Take it for what it's worth.

If you're going to pose for Playboy, you're putting yourself out in the public eye and you're going to hear criticism. (Continued…)

For each of you who have written in and criticized me one way or another, I have on question for you... Have you ever seen an actual Playboy magazine?

I do not mean for this to come off rude, but if you really want your concerns to mean anything to me, I need to know who you are.. The opinions of strangers rarely sway me, but personal contacts might mean something. (Continued…)

Through out or known history, the human body has been admired and studied immensely. Why is it now, in our modern (religious) day and age, which we turn a blind eye to what the nude form really is? It is nothing more than a thing of beauty. (Continued…)

I am so impressed. I am so happy to see that there is someone in this world that doesn't automatically link nudity to sex. It is a thing of beauty if it is taken in the right context rather. (Continued…)

I think the models of Playboy are sincere and fine young women. Being nude in a publication like Playboy does not mean you are a lewd person of no moral values. (Continued…)

Unfortunately, Evan, not many people feel like you and I. There is nothing wrong with Playboy. Most of the people who have such horrible opinions of Playboy have never actually picked one up and looked at it. (Continued…)
