May 5, 2010: Love Lockdown
ADAM VACCARELLA / The Daily Reveille
After all the stress and worrying surrounding "dead week" and finals, everyone feels like they need the time, if even just a moment, to let it all go. I saw this guy hanging out around Allen Hall and the laugh he brought was just the relief I needed after a long day.
May 4, 2010: Have You Ever Seen the Rain
BRIANNA PACIORKA / The Daily Reveille
Despite the rain threatening to drown Jazz Fest, thousands of party-goers still went out to enjoy the 2010 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
May 3, 2010: Dance the Night Away
J.J. ALCANTARA / The Daily Reveille
During a dress rehearsal for the LSU Dance Concert this past weekend, one particular performance had an intriguing and intricate set of hand motions during the piece. It was a beautiful thing.

April 22, 2010: Shadow of the Sun
HILARY SCHEINUK / The Daily Reveille
While on assignment tonight at the softball game against McNeese, I noticed how the sunset made a beautiful silhouette of LSU Sports Information photographer Steve Franz and an LSU game marshall. This shot was taken at f/2.8, shutter 1/8000, ISO 640.
April 21, 2010: All the Small Things
HILARY SCHEINUK / The Daily Reveille
While out on assignment today, I knelt down and went to lean on an oak tree limb to take a photo when I noticed this little guy out the corner of my eye. I took the photo and let the caterpillar continue on his way. This photo was taken at f/7.0, ISO 1600 and a shutter speed of 1/320.
  April 20, 2010: White Lightning
HILARY SCHEINUK / The Daily Reveille
While waiting for a writer to join me for an assignment in front of the library, I noticed a group of students gathering near the area of the Quad in front of Stubbs hall. As I walked over, everyone had their cell phones out taking photos of the notoriously famous albino squirrel that people see around campus.
April 19, 2010: Right on Track
HILARY SCHEINUK / The Daily Reveille

While walking to an assignment today, I noticed how clovers have begun to take over the grass all over campus.
April 14, 2010: Ride With Me
NICOLE KARAMICHAEL / The Daily Reveille
A pair of BMX riders were doing tricks in the Quad Tuesday afternoon, so I snapped a few shots. This one is of a rider doing a 180 off the bench. He landed facing the direction from where he came and moving backward. The shot was taken at ISO400, f/5.0 and 1/125s.
April 13, 2010: Bad to the Bone
NICOLE KARAMICHAEL / The Daily Reveille
I was riding with a friend who accented the interior of his truck with skulls, and thought this one on his shifter was a bit over the top: boys and their toys.
  March 30, 2010: Shop Around
BRIANNA PACIORKA / The Daily Reveille
The Honeymoon Bungalow on Government Street sells many interesting and awesome vintage items. One of my favorite displays was this display of colorful vintage plates hanging on a white board because the plates, which were interesting by themselves, just popped out against the white.
  March 29, 2010: Big Poppa
SARAH HUNT / The Daily Reveille
During intermission at the LSU men's tennis match vs. Georgia on Sunday, two students decided to play "sumo" style tennis.
  March 25, 2010: Candy Shop
HILARY SCHEINUK / The Daily Reveille
While waiting for an assignment to begin, I sat down on a bench in front of the Dairy Store. To my surprise, I was accompanied by a pair of M&M's.
  March 24, 2010: Evergreen
NICOLE KARAMICHAEL / The Daily Reveille
I was walking through the Quad and the vivid green of this tree and a few near it caught my eye in the sunlight. It just seemed in deep contrast with the duller green of the surrounding oaks and the bare branches of others. The white of the bark also seemed to make the unnaturally bright leaves even more vivid. The backdrop against a clear blue sky and the European architecture of the Quad's buildings seemed appropriate.
March 23, 2010: Seven Nation Army
BRIANNA PACIORKA / The Daily Reveille
Someone placed a little blue toy soldier in the trash can ash trays by the Union, and it happened to catch my eye as I walked past the Union this afternoon.
  March 22, 2010: Liar Liar
JAMES WEST / The Daily Reveille
Unfortunately, "Big-Fibber" was still open. Taken in the union in front of the staircase leading up to the Tiger Lair.
  March 19, 2010: Handlebars
HILARY SCHEINUK / The Daily Reveille
I was walking on my way to an assignment and saw this lone bike on the bike and liked the intricate patterns that the shadows made of the neighboring bike racks.
March 18, 2010: A Shot in the Dark
NICOLE KARAMICHAEL / The Daily Reveille
The Military Sciences Building hosts an array of activities and organizations, and most don't even know it. From the Army and Air Force ROTC programs to the National Society of Pershing Rifles, LSU Raiders and Army Scotch Guard to the Rifle Team's live-fire rifle range and electronic simulation range, a lot happens in very little space.
  March 17, 2010: I'm on a Boat
HILARY SCHEINUK / The Daily Reveille
The Hyundai Treasure, a South Korean bulker is seen anchored in the Mississippi River near the Bonnet Carre Spillway. I went to photograph the spillway since the road connecting Montz and Norco had been reopened, and noticed the large amount of bulker ships anchored in the river.
  March 16, 2010: Kiss From a Rose
HILARY SCHEINUK / The Daily Reveille
Every year, for as long as I can remember, my grandmother has sent me roses for my birthday, 1 rose for every year. This weekend, I received 20 roses and this was just one of them.
  March 12, 2010: American Pie
MELANIE SCOTT / The Daily Reveille
I took this photo at Lafreniere Park in Metairie, La., during my friend's "away to boot camp party". This picture reminds me of when I was little and how the simplest outdoor things fascinated me and how they still do. I also thought the wind catching the streamers and the light captured the beauty of nature.
March 10, 2010: Black or White
HILARY SCHEINUK / The Daily Reveille
While on assignment regarding an update of the construction in the Student Union, I noticed how the lighting caused the workers in the TigerLair to become obscure shadow-figures.
  March 8, 2010: All Star
BRIANNA PACIORKA / The Daily Reveille
During the opening weekend, I noticed Leon Landry had shaved something into his hair, but I could never tell what it was. Three games later at Sunday's game against Brow, I finally figured out what he had shaved into his hair: his jersey number, six, surrounded by a star. This photo was shot at 1/4000, f2.8 and ISO 800.
  March 5, 2010: Free Bird
HILARY SCHEINUK / The Daily Reveille
While riding my bike to work today, I looked up and noticed a hot air balloon. It isn't normal to see hot air balloons around campus, so I snapped a photo.
March 4, 2010: Every Picture Tells a Story
J.J. ALCANTARA / The Daily Reveille
One of my assignments this week entailed me to photograph Mary Anne Frenzel's family's donation to the Hill Memorial Library. She had a collection of photographs and documents entitled the "Gebelin-Walsh-Hynes-Frenzel family papers," but this one photo struck me the most. It was a photo of two children by Andrew D. Lytle, a famous Baton Rouge photographer from the late 19th century. Lytle is well-known for his chronicling of life in the South, particularly the Baton Rouge area.
  March 3, 2010: The Sign
JAMES WEST / The Daily Reveille
On my way to an assignment, I set up my camera and saw this sign in front of me near Allen Hall so I snapped it a few times to get the correct settings. After getting back to the news room and having forgotten that I even took it, I took a closer look at the shot and noticed the amount of detail contained on this long forgotten, dilapidated sign. The worn away message, the googly eyes, the initals written in some sort of gooey substance, the rotting texture of the metal. It's things like this that make sure you REALLY keep your eyes open while walking around just to make sure you don't miss something forgotten.
March 2, 2010: Dark Side of the Moon
J.J. ALCANTARA / The Daily Reveille
Late Monday night right before I went to sleep, I received a text message saying there was an odd ring around the moon. I don't know why it happened, but it made for a great photo. This image was taken at 25 seconds, f/4 and ISO50.
  March 1, 2010: Blackbird
BRIANNA PACIORKA / The Daily Reveille
A small bird watches its surroundings while perched on a wire Sunday afternoon. This photo was shot at 1/3000, f2.8 and ISO200.
